Our friend Navy Chief has passed away.

Post by Brian D. »

Real name Kim D. Campbell. I don't like passing along news like this, but a whole bunch of people on this forum interacted with him through the years, many of us in person. Let's share our memories.

I'm shocked, I knew he had health problems in the past but thought he was doing well enough. Do you have info about where to send flowers, funeral arrangements, etc.? Some way to send condolences to Mrs. Navy Chief?

RIP Chief. He was definitely one of the good ones.

There was that one time after we set up FNG the day before and was shooting a few stages and he shot out the rear window of that van he was supposed to be shooting around.
The guy from the club was freaking out all over the place; the van did NOT have any bullet holes; and Chief was sure he didn't shoot it.
"The window just burst" he told me.
I was watching the targets and missed the actual breakage

It's possible that the window broke from the concussion of the shot. If he shot through the window, I would expect some other damage inside the vehicle, unless other windows were open and the round exited through one of those.

I should have thought of this originally: Can we turn this into a "sticky" thread, please? Guess I was upset. :(

The broken window story is good. That's why you should avoid using still functional vehicles as range props or equipment. :D Hopefully that wasn't the case that day.

Kim did such a great job of just shaking his head and shrugging off stupidity, ask me how I know.

He was so even keeled and one of those people that had a tremendous calming effect, I will miss him dearly as well.

Please, can one of the moderators or coordinators make this a "Sticky" topic?

Thanks. It needed to be with the other "In memory of" threads, I think.
