A few possible encounters....avoided, thankfully

Post by Berettas4me »

One was at a golf course of all places. I have a few others from over the years, but they end up being very similar because I try to do pretty much the same thing when some nut starts charging at me.

Some time back I was reading a story about a guy who had called the club house on a group in front of them and a ranger had come out.
A man in the group in front broke a club shaft and attacked the guy who called for the ranger and drove the shaft into the victims artery in his leg.

So Im golfing a few week later and these folks in front of us have 13....THIRTEEN....people on the green.
they were holding up the course to bad that it looked to me like the next three holes were entirely empty because of how slow they were going.
Some of them are stoned, obviously drinking.
Rather than confront them, I called the club house to send a ranger out to tell them to speed up....especially given that one of them is literally a volunteer at that golf course and knows the rules.
Ranger comes out, tells them to stop horsing around and get going.
Ranger leaves and the volunteer grabs an iron and starts charging over demanding to know who called the ranger.
I DID. And you know the rules here.
He charges at me with the golf club (Im now having flashbacks of the story above, btw, lol), so I dropped my hand down over my concealed weapon taking a weaver stance and asked him in a loud voice..."ARE YOU INTENDING TO ASSAULT ME?" so everyone around could hear.
I saw him watching me drop my hand down and he stopped dead in his tracks, mumbled something and turned around.

turns out one of MY group members was a retired cop lol. He saw the whole thing. Says he thought it was all pretty funny, but definitely liked the way I handled it...let the guy know to back off so things didnt escalate without making any threats or exposing my weapon.

These people are INSANE out there, lol.
Going to assault someone with a deadly weapon instead of just admitting they were wrong and apologizing and moving along.
