BRUNSWICK HILLS, Ohio (WJW) – A 3-year-old child has died after an accidental shooting in Brunswick Hills Wednesday evening, according to Police Chief Tim Sopkovich.

Officers were called to the scene just after 5 p.m. on Marks Road.

According to Sopkovich, the accidental shooting resulted in a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the chest. Sopkocvich said, the child’s father set aside his gun in the garage and the child got hold of it.

When one of my great grandkids was 3 years old my granddaughter put some Halloween candy up on top of a refrigerator, thinking that her kids couldn't get to it. I saw my great grandson move a chair over to the counter next to the frig, go from the stair to the counter, and use another item on the counter to stand on to get to the candy. When he found out I caught him he tried to buy me off with some of the candy.
