Why is this relevant to gun carry? I found it ironic because recently someone (not on here) commented against armed teachers and only allowing qualified and background vetted law enforcement to carry guns, saying something about some teachers if they are caught having relations with a student do you want them to carry guns as well?

Re: SRO and deputy accused of relationship with student
Depending on the age of the student, the SRO or Deputy might not be able to possess guns after the statutory rape conviction.
Can't open the link. It opens and then goes blank. Probably because I won't pay them.

No problem opening it - and I didn't pay them either. Probably something strange on your end.
Article says:
REBLE COUNTY — A Preble County Sheriff’s deputy, who was working as a school resource officer, has been arrested after he was learned to allegedly be having a relationship with a student.
Mason Williams, 26, was arrested Friday. He is facing one count of sexual battery, tampering with evidence, and dereliction of duty.
Williams has been accused of being in a consensual relationship with an 18-year-old student at National Trail High School outside of the school setting, according to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson. Williams had been the student resource officer at the National Trail School District for roughly two years.
The Preble County Sheriff’s Office began an internal investigation into Williams on Wednesday. Based on the information gathered and learned, the Sheriff’s Office requested the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to handle a criminal and internal affairs investigation.
Montgomery County investigators presented their findings, to date, to the Preble County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday and were able to secure an arrest warrant for Williams.
Williams was booked into the Butler County Jail on Friday and remains held without bond. He’s also been placed on paid administrative leave.
“This alleged conduct goes against many of the core values of this office – professionalism, integrity, and making sound, ethical, and moral decisions both on duty and off duty,” Simpson said.
The investigations into Williams and the allegations are ongoing.
News Center 7 has reached out to the school district about the allegations. At the time of this report, we have not received a response.

Here is a follow up article. They seem more upset than if the person accused was a teacher. I hope its not another false allegation story, the Miami valley has already had one of these recently against a janitor.

Unfair and unjust;’ Community furious after SRO arrested for alleged relationship with student
As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, community members are disgusted by this news.
“I hate to hear that. My heart broke for the child because she is still a child,” Eaton resident Carey Coffman said.
Coffman said she has seen the effects sexual abuse can have on a victim. She said her family members are still trying to recover from the abuse they endured as kids.
“These kids are having their childhood removed from them and it’s just unfair and unjust,” Coffman said.
On Wednesday, March 20, the Preble County Sheriff’s Office conducted an internal investigation on Williams.
They discovered that he was having a consensual relationship with an 18-year-old student at National Trail High School in New Paris.
“He’s being held without bond and is currently in the Butler County Jail, being held there at our request,” Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson said.
Simpson said the relationship did not happen on school grounds and believes no other students are involved.
He added that William’s actions go against everything he and his department stand for.
“When law enforcement investigates and arrests one of their own, it’s imperative that we be transparent and what we learned and how we responded, which is why we’re here today,” Simpson said.
