WWI U.S. POUCH FOR SMALL ARTICLES w/RED CROSS – DATED 8-1918

This is an extremely fine First World War 1 Pouch for Small Articles with Red Cross that remains in excellent condition. It is constructed of heavy tan duck material with an extended hanger and wire bale at the top for attachment to the pistol or cartridge belt. The closure snaps at the bottom of the outer flap are fully functional and with all the original black finish. Stenciled on the outer flap is a small red cross which indicated the pouch was to carry additional squad level first aid material. Marked just below the extension strap on the rear is, ‘K-T CO. 9-18'

The Pouch for Small Articles was 8 inches wide by 5 inches high and made from olive drab and khaki colored canvas. The large flap, emblazoned with the initials “U.S.”, was secured by two lift-the-dot fasteners and opened to reveal the interior’s one pocket pouch. The rear of the pouch featured four metal grommets whose purpose are unknown and a web strap to which was sewn a wire belt hanger. This Pouch for Small Articles was fabricated by “K.T. Co.” and features a contract date of August 1918.
