Happy Trails
With today’s news, I bring you the immortal words of the singing cowboy, Roy Rogers:
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
Happy trails to you,
Keep smiling until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song, and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
I’m out…I told Chuck to put my refund to hosting a locked and archived forum (legal liability of an active gun-related forum without corporate legal protections is unwise)….may you all find your best trail.
We did some cool stuff.

I'll miss the boots-on-the-ground activism with those of us who had each other's backs.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Agreed on all points - this has been my favorite group. A sad time to see it shutdown.

Re: Happy Trails
Being mostly a "lurker" (especially since moving to TN 10 years ago !), can somebody tell me what's goin' on ?
Shutting down the board ??? Sure hope not - the one group board down here is sorely lacking.
But if that's the case --- it's been real.

Hate to see this go away. Even tho I moved out of state 6 years ago, I still login just about everyday to see what's happening.

Re: Happy Trails
OFCC is trying to keep the boards alive by piggybacking them on a shared server so there is minimal to no cost. Beyond that, we'll have to see.docachna wrote:Being mostly a "lurker" (especially since moving to TN 10 years ago !), can somebody tell me what's goin' on ?

Re: Happy Trails
I remember leaving the board a number of years ago because of a couple of moderators who did not seem to understand what their role was. Or perhaps they did, but didn't care, because exercising power was too fun. I'm thinking of one in particular, though I won't name him.
I came back several years later under THIS name, and noticed a VERY diminished participation level on the forum. I wasn't quite sure what the cause of that was, though I have my suspicions. Plus of course, I don't think there was any one single cause, though one or two factors could have been more important than all the rest.
The truth is, I have been online since before Al Gore invented the internet, and I can tell you that ALL online communities have a life-cycle. Eventually, no matter what their peak popularity may have been, they all die off.

I've been around as long and it's not just the communities that have a life cycle. Many of us older members are realizing they have one as well.EricTheBald wrote: The truth is, I have been online since before Al Gore invented the internet, and I can tell you that ALL online communities have a life-cycle.
