It's because DeSantis has had a national presence for several years now, but DeWine has not.

Desantis flipped blue counties red and made history. DeWhine limped around and got in, because the R is the winning sticker.

On Florida history:

Democrats, outnumbered by Republicans among registered voters for the first time in a general election in modern Florida, basically are being cast into political exile in the state.

Both U.S. Senate seats, the entire Cabinet and governor’s office will be in GOP hands for the first time since the post-Civil War Reconstruction era.

FL GOP voters registered 9-1 vs Dems recently.

Desantis won by 30k last time, now 1.5 million.

Desantis is doing something rare in the GOP -- leading by acting on an agenda. And the voters from traditionally Dem catacombs want that on loop. THAT is why he is getting national shine and DeWhine is wheezing out.

But DeWhine has college ties and shout-outs in his press conferences, AND SMOKESHOW FRAN! (How can anyone even focus on what Richard is croaking out while she distracts the eyes and the mind?)

We spend about half the year in Florida, so we are exposed to “our other governor” a lot. He is well liked down here.

I enjoy his comments on keeping Florida free and people not bringing their wokeness to Florida.
