How do you have your pump shot gun ready for firing ? Condition. #1 #2 #3..

If I was CARRYING it (instead of a handgun, for some hard to imagine reason) it would be chamber loaded, safety on, I guess. Same with a rifle.

Staged in the house I keep a long gun chamber empty. It's not getting grabbed first.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Chamber empty, hammer cocked, safety on.
Have to pump a round into the chamber before firing but can't without releasing the slide.
