Also when the case started many years ago (like 3-4) the NRA tried to de-rail it. It apparently thought it was to good a case, and therfore would make it to the SCOTUS. THe NRA didnt think there would be a favorable ruling there, and instead pushed for a change via congress.
Remember that was a few years ago, and things are very different now. Now congress and new Justices. I am not sure of the NRAs current position in this case, if any.
