Opinions on 6.5 Grendel AR15

Post by ArmedAviator »

Anyone here shoot the 6.5 Grendel? I've only this weekend started looking into it seriously. I like that it has similar performance to a .308 but can be about out of a stock AR15 lower rather than having to get an M1A, AR10, etc. for a semi auto .308.

Looking up what other people think of the Grendel load, it's seen as very accurate out to about 609 yards and packs as much punch as .308 at that range and a little beyond due to better ballistic coefficients.

Since it has been SAAMI certified a few years ago, the availability and prices seemed to be improved. Wolf Grendel ammo can be had for around 40 cents a round although I'd probably start reloading for accurate loads.

My intention with this is to have an accurate, effective medium range rifle in a lightweight platform as compared to many .308 offerings.

For those of you using Grendel, do you reload? What are your results in accuracy? Cost?
Good luck and stand fast, true Patriots.

buy a good barrel, i suggest black hole weaponry..
my buddy has a 24", we use it out to 1000y

reloading is no different then a normal AR, the wolf ammo is pretty good
123amax hand loads should get you .5 inch at 100y

the only PIA is getting mags

if you want better accuracy and not deal with the extra BS in loading for a semi, build a nice bolt gun for long range... the only advantage a AR give you is fast follow up shots..
