I just got in trade a savage model 11 chambered in ruger 204.... I had never even heard of that round before, but the deal was there so I took it. got the rifle with a sling...a leupold scope and supposed to pick up some casings when I make delivery of the merchandise.... anyone have any insight as to the quality of the gun and effectiveness of the round? I am NOT a rifle guy and know zilch.

204 Ruger is a nice varmint cartridge. Pushes around 4,000fps at the muzzle, with energy in the 1200 ft-lbs range, typically 32 or 40gr bullets. Slightly better performance at longer ranges compared to the 22-250, it is a good coyote and prairie dog round. The Savage Model 11 is generally a decent rifle, there are several variations so it's hard to comment about what you have without knowing which one it is.
