Re: suppressors anyone?
It's on the short list, I'll be visiting all the manufacturers at the NRA show to make my final choice on a .30 Cal can. I plan to switch it between several rifles of various calibers(.308, .300 blk, 5.56), so a quick release unit using muzzle devices is on my list of requirements.
Shooting my Rem 700 SPS in .308 with NO suppressor, is a completely different experience than shooting my Friends Rem 700 SPS in .308 with a Suppressor. it's still not 'silent' but it is quieter, with far less felt recoil, making for a more enjoyable shooting experience.
Firearms with Subsonic ammo (.22, .45, 9mm, .300 Blk) are pretty darn quiet. Getting a suppressor was the item that drove my .300 blk build.
Not using Subsonic ammo, a lot of people will tell you your suppressor doesn't work... (they all picture the completely silent & fake TV 'assassin' silencers) they don't realize what they are actually hearing is the bullet breaking the sound barrier down range,.
Teaching a new shooter with a silenced .22 using standard velocity ammo.. no loud bang, almost no recoil, just focusing on the fundamentals, with nothing to cause a flinch. I look forward to the first person I get to do this with.
Last but not least, Good neighbors use suppressors.

How many ClassIII FFL Dealers are there in Ohio? How many will get one now? The nearest on to me is a hour away!
They don't mention on the news that you will need the $200.00 tax stamp! They make it sound like every hunter can now get a Suppresser for their rifle.

Bought a 22 can prior to moving to Ohio. Super fun. Next up is a Specwar 762

Not sure how accurate that is. Brunskill Armory in Mt. Vernon is not listed.

Re: suppressors anyone?
I got a .22 can a couple years ago, and just picked up my Specwar 7.62 last week (which took just under 3 months to get stamp). Bruenor summed it up pretty well above. To me, once I shot suppressed - more so rifles - I just don't enjoy shooting as much w/o one. Center fires are just so loud
And I am able to shoot at my residence, but it is definitely more considerate for the neighbors! Handgun is one thing, but the .308 gets to be a little much I would imagine.
The .22 on my GSG pistol is great for first timers or those not quite as comfortable yet. And they really do make a big diff. w/ larger caliber recoil, which also lets you stay on target easier for follow-ups.
I'm planning on getting an Osprey later this year for sure for 9mm and .45.
If you're on the fence about one, just bite the bullet and get it - you won't regret it.

Re: suppressors anyone?
My first reaction after shooting my AR-10 with a suppressor was to ask myself why I waited so long. Silencerco will tell you that it's under the OSHA limit of 140 dB, but I still don't take the risk. I wear my ProEars muffs and can carry on conversations and actually hear the buffer spring still twanging a half second after the shot. Now - standing 10 feet away and behind the shooter it pretty much sounds like a non-suppressed 22 without muffs on.

I was completely impressed when I heard (didn't hear?) a suppressed .308 for the first time.

Picked up my Silencerco saker 762 from the dealer last night. Filed the ATF forms back in September.
My stamp collection has finally begun.

Re: suppressors anyone?
I'm still on the fence about one. I would love to see them removed from the nfa and sold on a 4473 like firearms. It would really be game changer for all of us I would think.

Suppressors have to be the most regulated safety devices on the market.

Re: suppressors anyone?
While I doubt that that bill ever gets taken up it is a small step in the right direction. I see that ruger has jumped on the suppressor band wagon and are now making their own band of them. Please correct me if I wrong but they are the first major company to do so. Thanks Anthony

I don't know if they're the first or not,but Ruger is not the only major firearms manufacturer to do so.

Sig beat them to it for first, but certainly the more major players in the industry that come on board, the better.Tru-Heathen wrote:I don't know if they're the first or not,but Ruger is not the only major firearms manufacturer to do so.
