Rifle or Handgun?

Post by bamafan7 »

I'm trying to decide what to purchase next. A Glock 20 or a Zastava NPAP M70. The AK would be cheaper to shoot of course. Either will be nothing more than a range toy/home defense/TEOTWAWKI gun.

Opinions? Anyone have either?

Do you have an AK pattern rifle (or other TEOTWAWKI-appropriate rifle)? If not, that's the direction I'd go...

I don't. That's why the AK variant is one of my next choices. Seems like the obvious direction to go.

You are asking for OUR OPINION, right? Okay then! No AK of any sort, bleeecccch. :P

Wait on the Glock 20 because the rumor is that the long slide "practical tactical" 10mm is going to be debuted in 2015 and assigned the Model number 40.
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

Absolutely, open to all opinions. I saw the announcement already. I'm not too interested in the long slide version though.

 Again re-iterating that these are opinions...

I have run across folks -AND- it has been my hands-on experience in (completely unfair) testing that the shorter Glock 29 is actually a more accurate handgun than a Glock 20. If it was me choosing, I would pick the G20 last of the three for sure, and I'm saying this as the new one isn't even actually reality yet.

Why a Glock20?

Common, and EZ, is best-- Glock 9mm, much better choice. AK is too powerful for home defense.

Interest in the cartridge I guess. Especially with the Double Tap stuff.

I already have 9mm covered. I'm also trying to diversify calibers in the collection. I agree it's too powerful for home defense. Main purpose will be a range toy.

My home defense is 9mm.

The thread title is 'rifle or handgun'. Are Glock's and AK's the only options? Is an AR rifle a possibility? Is your budget limited? Do you already have a reliable home defense gun? Etc., etc.
