Posted: Thu Sep 06, 2012 2:39 pm
In anticipation of the 2012 Ohio deer gun season, I thought it might be fun to have a slug match. Here's the deal:
Purpose:
This event is a friendly competition to see who can hit their mark with a shotgun slug.
When:
Saturday, October 13 at 2:00 PM
Where:
Clinton County Farmers and Sportsmen’s Association, 301 Batson Road, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. Meet at the shelter of the 50 yard pit.
Cost:
$5.00 for members or immediate family. $8 for non-members. Proceeds will go to the club. The winner will receive a frozen turkey.
Safety/Orientation:
A safety briefing and description of course of fire will commence at the scheduled start time.
Targets/Course of Fire:
We will be using a single bullseye target for each participant of approximately 9 inches. The course of fire will consist of participants stepping to the line and firing 3 shots offhand at their target in the allotted two minutes. The range will be approximately 40 yards. The participant with the closest average distance from the bullseye of three qualifying rounds will be declared the winner.
Exceptions will me made for those with physical limitations that do not allow shooting in the offhand position. Sighter shots will not be permitted.
Equipment:
Shotguns: ANY safe shotgun legal for hunting deer in Ohio, not larger than 12 gauge.
Ammunition: ANY ammunition that matches the chambering of the gun and that is legal for hunting deer in Ohio.
Sights: No restrictions.
Shooting supports: Shotgun must be fully supported by the shooter. Slings may be utilized; however, bipods, sandbags, or other artificial supports may not be used.
Other notes:
Depending on the number of participants, shooters may be split into different relays.
See the website or hit me up with a PM for details.
