The Truth about Violence
Pretty good article about knowing what violence is and preparing yourself to deal with it. I don't agree with it 100%, but it has a number of good points in it for everyone to think through.
Where is your "line in the sand".

Re: The Truth about Violence
Recently,in Columbus, there was a trained martial arts instructor who was killed during a robbery. He resisted. Under-served, disenfranchised protestor shot the man. Some urban warrior with a gun ended his life. Tragic and completely senseless.
I have spent a lifetime avoiding bad people, bad places and bad things. I believe that is the Iron Triangle of Trouble, and I advise others to avoid any of those components, as well.

There's always the "Any Given Sunday" phenomenon. It's always the wildcard.
That doesn't mean to not be prepared - rather, if I can choose to not be there, I will try my best not to be there.

If I happen upon bad people, bad places or bad things, I leave.
Used to do volunteer work with ex-offenders. Always told them to avoid the Iron Triangle. The ones who didn't listen usually fell back into their bad habits. Typically those who did listen wanted to stay out of trouble.
