Ohioans For Concealed Carry Discussion Forums

Those that have been here on the forums for a while know that I'm a numbers person and love to play with statistics.
(That's why I love John Lott's "More Guns - Less Crime")

Anyway, in another thread a few weeks ago someone made the comment that Ohio had some dry counties. That is no alcohol sales. So I decided to verify that statement to satisfy my curiosity.

Things I found out:
1. There are NO perfectly dry counties.
2. The driest county is Adams with 17 businesses with permits, 28,213 people, and 1659.6 people per permit holder. (Wierd fact: the FIRST alphabetically)
3. The wettest county is Wyandot with 66 businesses with permits, 2,235 people, and 33.9 people per permit holder. (Wierd fact: the LAST alphabetically)

OBTW - Franklin Co. has the most permits with 3477, with a population of 1,129,067, and 324.72 people per permitted business.

What about Caroll County? Whenever I went to Leesville in college, we always regretted it if we forgot the booze since there is no beer to be found anywhere there.

At one time Adams County was completely dry when I was young. You had to drive out of the county or over to KY to get a beer.

Carroll Co. 92 permits, 28,439 people, 309.12 people/permit holders.

I'm not going to do this 88 times.

When were you in college/Carroll County ?
Our Township use to be dry years ago but a little store just got a permit to sell beer, the nearby Church use to protest the other owners and the permit was denied but for some reason the Church didn't protest this time

The population of Wyandot co. is a little over 22,000. It appears that you jumped a space. Please correct your data.

You are absolutely correct. I've reloaded and rechecked all my data and here is what I SHOULD have posted.

I visited there from 200 to 2003.

I worked at the Lodge in the mid 70's, started when I was 15

I had connections and when the lodge had company parties the companies had to bring in their own booze because it was a "Dry" area.
All the leftover hooch went into a cooler, the company was notified after a week to come get their excess, if they didn't come and pick it up it was "distributed" to employees.
Good times back then, goooood times
I guess the lodge sells booze now and the Gas station in Sherrodsville sells beer too, most of the dry townships were heavy moonshine areas, some still are
