OFCC MEMBER? - Update your profile for me...
If you're an OFCC member please take a minute to update your forums profile.
1. In the top left corner of every screen under the "Board Index" text is a "User Control Panel" link. Click that.
2. In there, click on the profile tab and scroll down.
Please enter your membership number and your zip code. However, if you don't want a Site Supporter logo to show up near your name, don't do what I just said
If you don't know your membership number you can look at any prior newsletter. Its usually a four digit number printed on the mailing label. The five digit zip code on that label is also what we have on record. If you can't come up with your membership number, enter 9999 for me along with your zip code. We'll try to back fill any 9999 entry by matching email addresses.
In the very near future the Site Supporter logo will be connected to the membership database to automate the process (and to automate taking it away). Another benefit of populating both fields is that we'll push your membership expiration date back into your profile page (only you can see your own). You can change those fields, but they'll just get written over.

Contrary to a popular belief when I brag about OFCC accomplishments I'm not looking for your thank you or personal recognition. I'd much prefer you send me an email telling me when you are going to get involved in doing what I've been doing since 1999. We are only as effective as we make ourselves. We need the next generation of OFCC to step to the plate.
Is that you?

I've added a field to the profile called House Number. These are the digits of your address that proceed your street name. Please update your profiles accordingly, we'll eventually begin checking that field.

The expiration date routine needs work.
My date as printed on my last newsletter is 11/18/2010.
In my profile it came up:
Day 11
Month --
Year 2010
Also, why are these user input fields?

I didn't enter my expiration. I know what it is but I wanted to see what the system generates before I say.

Then I'd send an email to [email protected] and ask them to update our records, just in case we might email you a renewal notice or a newsletterkhufford wrote:What if your address has changed since you became a member?

Re: OFCC MEMBER? - Update your profile for me...
Alan,
I'll look at yours later tonight. About to walk out the door - we may have a missed field in the export or something funny.
The reason its a user input field is because thats the easier way to implement this without making modifications to the forums that I'd have to maintain each time we upgrade the software. It makes sense to me to put this info there where you enter your fields. You can change it, but as it says right there in the description, I'll just over write what you put in there next time my script runs. I never look at the membership date you might enter, I just blindly write over it every time my script runs.

Ok Alan. Good find. I'm not exactly sure why yet, but when I push an 18 into any user it shows up as hash marks.AlanM wrote:The expiration date routine needs work.

Ah ha. That stupid field is D/M/YY and I'm pushing in M/D/YY like any American would read a date. Ok, fix on the way.

The 10/90 rule of programming: It takes 10% of development time to write a program and 90% to debug it.
Trust me, I've proven the above more times than I wish to admit.
Actually all programming can be defined as debugging this (or the equivalent):
[Begin]
[End]
