What some have said already here. I ask about the same stuff that I did when I sold a bicycle. So long as you don't get a very bad vibe from the other guy it is a basic transaction.

Recently bought a gun from a member here, we talked a couple of times via email and once on the phone we met I handed over cash he handed me gun done.

..........If I am selling or buying a hand gun I always get ID and I write out a form with the gun info, and what I think is the most important info, The Date when it was bought or sold. Then have it signed.

:) But I happen to know that the information on the form you got when you sold your G26 is no longer accurate! ;)

..............I am only concerned in that particular date. After that it does not matter to me. How is it no longer accurate ? :?

I should have said "current" instead of accurate. There is no paper trail between who you sold it to and me. If I start acting grumpy, its because I caught something from your gun!

How would LE know that you didn't fabricate the "log" record?

Hmm...

On this date, James Beatty did acquire, ignite, and subsequently completely incinerate one (1) twenty-four (24) inch length of Quercus Alba, hereinafter referred to as "the log."

I would not want to do business where a private seller recorded my info.
I show you my CHL, you see I am a "good guy", the money exchanges hands.

Good arguments against a Paper Trail but what would You do if You purchased a Gun and later it was found to be one used in a Murder or some other Crime?
I for One would like to be able to prove where I got the Gun from.
I will never sell a Fire Arm to or Buy a Fire Arm from Any One that refuses to give a Legal Name and Address for the Receipt.
