Jimmy Carter

Post by Petrovich »

What are your thoughts on Jimmy Carter?

I remember when he was President.....that poor man tried so hard to do the right things, but he had the brown touch (everything he touched turned to sh**).

I always admired him as an underdog, and a misunderstood person with good intentions.....much like myself.

Here lately he's REALLY coming off as a lib....is he getting senile or what? I mean, he's a dem; but heck...he always seemed to be a decent dem...if there is such a thing.

BTW....has billy died of liver failure yet?

By and large, he always seemed to be completly in character with almost every other nuke officer I've met. Beyond that, my thoughts are not suitable for posting.
Total repeal of ALL firearms/weapons laws at the local, state and federal levels. Period. Wipe the slate clean.

I think his political leanings are horrible, and he was not a good president. However, I think the man has a huge heart, whether his actions are misguided or not.

Ouch. (BTW - just took a peek at your profile. Looks like you've come a long way from "the hole.")

Jimmy Carter is a dead mouse on the kitchen floor of America, and somebody ought to sweep him up and throw him in the trash before he stinks up the rest of the house (w/acknowledgement to Nicholas Von Hoffman).

I was a HT on a sub tender. The USS Proteus out of Guam, back in 76-77. I got along real well with 'bubbleheads'......no offense intended.

Yep, I spent some time in the hole, but not like the BT's did.

I guess I wasn't paying attention.

I s'pose that's what I must have liked about him.

He has always been involved in humanitarian causes, and he actually accomplishes things. He made a very good ex-president.

Unlike the venom-spewing dems who want nothing more than to take away my rights. Jimmy Carter put his money where his mouth is.

Still, I wish he'd stay out of politics....he's way too liberal and not very good at it either.

Yup, the Navy taught me a lot about life and how to succeed. Instead of saying "this job sucks", I said "He works in the air conditioning? What do I need to do to get HIS job?".

I could have stayed in (I got out as a 2nd with 6 years), but President Rodham-Clinton decided to take away my re-enlistment bonus.

Fair winds and following seas, Chief.

By the way, I got lucky too, Order of the Ditch and Shellback in six years :)

Are you serious??? You actually wanted to re-enlist???

I guess some guys liked the nav....man, I just couldn't adjust. I did my job....halfheartedly I admit; but I stuck it out.

One of the happiest days of my life was the day I climbed down on a garbage barge headed for the beach. As soon as I found a gas station restroom I dropped that uniform and got into my civvies....I was free at last!!!! ....August 1980....four years literally to the day.

In the many years that have passed, however, I am proud of the fact I served. My service was by no means exemplary, but I did my job and I left with an Honorable Discharge......coulda been worse.
