Hey man...I reserve the right to call any of my firearms a weapon. That's because the majority of the time, I'm using my firearms to kill something :!: That's how I put meat on the table...

I may have referred to it as a weapon, but I still sold it to her.............. 8)

I corrected my terminology a couple of times (I don't think i said it 25 times), but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks!

You did sell her a nice gun and I am thankful for it. She came back the next day with her check book with no checks in it. She was a blond
though. She had to go to the bank machine to get cash. Thanks for the help. Steve stopped by today and I gave up a Cuban and a bottle of wine. The gun shop is doing well.

My daughter's a blonde sometimes....

However, one of my shooting buddies has (had - haven't seen either one for a while) a delightlful little blonde girlfriend.

She's a teriffic shot, too. In the course of "show and tell" with our mutual gun collections (rotsa ruck doing show & tell with the blonde  ), she ended up taking my CS45 to the line. None of the guys really can get that thing to behave. She did better than any of us with it, first time....

I probably ought to try to sell it to him. My wife won't let me have the blonde....

Regards,

...should be the name of a store, not a federal agency.

As Dogbert said, "I dream of a world where I can buy alcohol, tobacco and firearms at one drive-thru window and have an opportunity to use all three before I get home."

Actually, that is the very point in question in this friendly discussion. I think you may be mistaken... :?

Since you are an NRA instructor, perhaps you could check with the NRA to see what their stand is on this matter. Teaching students that firearms (and poleaxes...:D ) aren't weapons is in my mind an egregious error.
TR,

I am an NRA Certified Instructor (Home Firearm Safety, Pistol, Rifle and Personal Protection in the Home as well as a Range Safety Officer).

The NRA IS discuraging the term "weapon" to indicate a rifle, pistol or shotgun. There is no doubt of that.

In the old days, one of the command lines after a firing string of HP Rifle was "CLEAR AND GROUND ALL WEAPONS, MAKE THE LINE SAFE!". I am sure that this is the type of useage they are trying to stop.

I have NEVER seen or read where they are telling anyone that a handgun, rifle or shotgun is NOT a Weapon, but rather that it should not be called a Weapon so as to get this useage out of the system.

I DON'T use the term weapon in classes, and you really ought to try that when you are working with BOTH NRA and OPOTA instructors. It can get you into a real "split personality" mode!

After years of over budgeted government research, it has been determined that the evil "W" word is part of this discussion board's URL.

I propose its change to ohioccfb.org
