Nah, you know me. :) I'm not the type to tackle things that I'm not ready for. One of the reasons why I didn't shoot Costa's HE02 from-concealment was because I didn't think I'd be ready for it - that I'd waste more energy dealing with my concealment gear than I'd have liked in terms of facilitating my actually learning the material.

I'm a realist. I'm just not ready for the 1911/2011 platform, yet.
bah...how do you know you're not ready if you don't try.
It's kinda like people saying that they are waiting to have kids because they are not ready.
No one is ever ready.

Then why are you shooting an XDm?

^ No, you misunderstand, my brother.

I meant that operating my airsoft 1911/2011s. That shows me that I'm not ready, yet.

Just as kind of an fyi : TDI has their 2013 schedule up. I had better sign up for handgun 1-3 before it's too late.

I'll have to see if I can see Sara's schedule from this far out. Thank you for the tip! :)

Have you tried IDPA yet?

My local weekly IDPA club match is a low risk way to try out new gear and methods. If I don't have it work out like I'd prefer, I can always try again next week. As long as I stay safe, there is no downside to having a bad week. It is a lot less risky to waste $15 in match fees than hundreds of dollars for a high end training school with an experiment that doesn't pan out.

^ I'm more concerned with the safety of myself and others, but yes, you're absolutely on-point with that suggestion. :)

I have not yet started to compete, but I plan on doing so later this fall/early-winter or at the beginning of next year's season. :)

It's never too early to start competing.

^ Definitely. :)

I found that out a little late - it wasn't until this spring's class with Vogel that I saw the benefits of participating in competition. :)

Finding the time to do so is currently a sticking point for me.

Does anyone know of an "advanced" class that also covers the requirements for CCW? I have to retake the class before my next renewal in the spring and would like to incorporate some advanced training with it.

Why so you have to take another class for renewal?

Didn't HB495 so away with that?

Oh, maybe I am behind. When I first got my permit the certificate was only good for six years I think. I'll have to look up the current requirements.

HB495 makes three changes to current law:
Changes to automatically honor other states licenses, similar to a driver’s license
Eliminates the “demonstrated competency” requirement for 2nd and future CHL renewals, making CHL training similar to a hunting license
Fixes the definition of a “loaded gun” to match the commonly accepted definition

This portion was removed from the bill prior to passage - it is NOT becoming law on March 27, 2013.
