This was the first thing I noticed. As a commissioned officer in the Ohio National Guard, this bill seems to offer me (and others like me) a blanket exemption whether on duty or not. If you're looking for a recruiter, let me know.

Will the Guard take a 60+ yr old recruit with Army experience?
I can't march much, like to take naps when it is rainy, picky about what I eat and what time but do respect authority.
I love my Country and
really concerned about where it is heading......

If you notice two different titles in this thread, it's because I merged two threads that were discussing the same thing.

I belong to the Sons of Union Veterans and the military branch is the Sons of Veterans Reserve. We're chartered by the U.S. Government. Does this qualify as a Militia? I can go to war with my 1841 Ames smoothbore 6 pounder.

We're in serious trouble if it comes down to that!

The way I read this, the bill exempts all federal and state employees?

What is the possibility of starting an immediate recall petition for any politician supporting this bill?

Can we still join an Ohio militia? Seems they are exempt....
Here you go. A bona fide Militia. Codified in ORC .Complete with written orders that qualify as paid leave from work for weekend drills and annual obligations, just as if in National Guard etc

A GREAT idea! Think we could pull it off? National attention awaits,
career politicians

I doubt Bill 260 will go very far. But that's just my opinion.

I agree, but I'm more concerned that they know they're over-reaching, with the goal of presenting some "compromise" that will be accepted by the House and Senate but will still be incredibly bad.

That I think is the most likely reason they put forth such a crazy bill. Even the left wing crazy people know this will never pass in Ohio. But they can say "See, we tried. And the Right said no." Then they will turn around and proposed a few more, each one slightly less crazy in hopes that one will pass as a compromise bill.
On a side note, the crazy left did remind me that I should renew my OFCC membership

. So something good came of it atleast.

Pony Express riders would be best: orphans, unwed, no family or responsibilities after the arrows and whatnot come flying at them.

I notice that SB260 doesn't seem to have been assigned to a committee yet . . . does this mean no committee wants it? or no committee chair has as yet had his/her arm twisted far enough to take it? I had thought committee assignments happened faster than this.

Even the most rabid anti-gunner would probably shy away from this. Of course, I could be wrong...
