I woke up feeling sick this morning and things have gotten progressively worse. No way am I going to be able to make it to Columbus tomorrow. Sorry, but the wife brought a little germy present home from her work for me.

This "lurker" had an interesting and informative time at the Statehouse today while making some new OFCC friends. Thanks to all of the fellow OFCC members and leaders for their efforts today!

Most of the senators were out today, so our team, one of four teams of five people, only met with aids. Most of the aids were receptive to our message while some were shocked that open carry without any training is perfectly legal. Some were shooters and some claimed to want to learn. MrMagoo did a great job of sharing the message with the rest of our team chiming in whenever we could.

Someone with more tact and less bile than myself will clear up what our team did. Only met with one senator, he was cool. Met with a lot of aides, most were not cool. Most were, In point of fact, arrogant little assweasles who I wanted to mangle with... Well... Nevermind. I didn't like them much. Except for a few, and one very nice young lady.

A good day over all. One impression I got was that ORC 9,68, which House Bill 203 in part seeks to improve, is unknown by more than a few Senators, or at least their twentysomething aides. Statewide pre-emption has been in effect since what, 2008? This apparent lack of knowledge on the pols' part also meant they had no idea that 9.68 has been Ohio Supreme Court ''tested and approved'' for a few years by now.

Lots more to report, but I will let others weigh in. especially the team leaders, before further comment.

Generally a good day. There was much ignorance to dispel, and I think we helped in that regard. But no outright stupidity (which of course in incurable). Well, I take that back. We may in fact have run into one instance of it, but I'll say no more on that. The other folks on the team I traipsed around with know who I mean, and let's just leave it go at that. There are reasons for doing so. Other than that, we encountered no hostility that I picked up on. In fact, most of the staffers we spoke with seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say. Some more than others? Sure. But that's to be expected. In retrospect, we perhaps could have been prepped a little better - and when I say "we" I mean specifically "me." Nonetheless, the beauty of visiting en masse like we did is that whenever one of would falter a little bit others were there to pick up the slack. I know my team did an admirable job of picking up mine.

So all in all, yeah, a good day. How much of difference did we make? I dunno. But I guarantee today didn't hurt a thing.

Speaking for myself, it was a GREAT EXPERIENCE. Nice reason to take off work in my case. The statehouse building is quite interesting itself if you've never been inside. Hearing the guys I was with explain, discuss, dispell varying components of HB203 was the highlight of my day, along with meeting ~some for the first time, but not all ~ good hearted OFCC members.. and Gaspode.
