sobriety checkpoint - Marion

Post by Jedi Master »

I was coming home from catching Adam Sandler's lastest (CLICK) around midnight last night when I came across a sobriety check point down the road from the theatre. The state troopers were stopping and questioning each driver in every car.

As the officer approached my car, the window was down, interior light was on, and both hands were on the steering wheel.

LEO: "This is a sobriety checkpoint - can I see your license and regisration, please?"
ME: "Certainly, offiicer, but I must tell you that I have a CCW, but I am not carrying."
LEO: "Never mind with the license and registration. Have you been drinking tonight?"
ME: "No sir."
LEO: "How long have you had your CCW?"
ME:"Since February, sir."
LEO:"Have a good evening"
ME:"Thank you, Officer, you too and stay safe!"

A pleasant learning expierience that was passed with flying colors! Hats off to all of our LEO's!!!

Yeah, yeah, I know the question will come up - 'why wasn't I armed?' I don't like the 'in plain view' law, and the theatre is a 'no-weapons' zone. I love films and it's the only theatre in Marion.

Oh, yeah, unless you're a die-hard Sandler fan, wait till this one hits DVD!!!!

Wow! Usually it leads to MORE papers to pass, not less. This is a pleasant surprise. My gratitude goes out to this officer.

Of course, I'm still opposed to police checkpoints. We're free citizens. Period.

Actually the question will come up "When are you going to retain legal counsel and sue the officer and city for illegal detainment"

Unless it was a drive in movie, that's no excuse :P

That's what you get for watching Adam Sandler in a theater... 8)

Checkpoints and proper papers reminds me of downed aircraft pilots trying to get out of Nazi occupied Europe.

hmmmm..

If you come across a checkpoint is it illegal to drive back and forth through it a few thousand times??
