Believe it or not, it's the same thing - just more specific. The weapons system I was trained to work on is the Mark 86 Gunfire Control System - the military typically abbreviates that to "MK86." My NEC/rate (what would be called MOS in other branches) is 1130/Fire Controlman - or "FC." The Navy follows one's rate with rank, with Chief being (duh) "C." So "MK86FCC" = "Mark 86 Fire Controlman Chief"LeiraHoward wrote:I KNEW it was some unholy bunch of gibberish like that..."NavyChief" makes SOooo much more sense!

The forums have been hosted for some time now out of my pocket. We are coming up on the annual domain renewal for ohioccwforums.org and I pay roughly $20/month to keep the forums online. I do this to maintain the long-standing history of discussions here indexed in Google, and so that people have a place to discuss this topic outside of modern social media censorship. I figured it had to be something like that.

I find these posts humerous and very entertaining. I have to make one observation though.
We, me included, have been censored for off the cuff remarks, writing things that may offend others etc....
I received a message (private) that some things may be offensive to "my kids that read over my shoulder." And my posts have not come close to the inuendos suggested during this string.
I would never complain about the things posted here as I think they are funny as all get out. However, why are some chastised for being boderline offensive, yet others are not. Mystery to me.

My comeback would have been something like: I'l let you see it but you'll have to use both hands to hold onto it. It's pretty big, and dosen't come with a safety.

@PAJOHN: This is innuendo humor. Nothing explicit is stated. Only very round about remarks that would require the observer to know of such things to begin with. Otherwise, it's not graphic enough to lead them there. That's the difference.

Are you kidding me? Do you have kids? I would beg to differ with you if you do not think that kids even at the elementary age cannot extrapolate the meaning behind these "hidden inuendos."dan_sayers wrote:@PAJOHN: This is innuendo humor. Do I personally find them humorous...most definately, but you are living in a fantasy world if you do not think school age children do not get the meanings.
I really do not care what is posted on this site. I disagree with censorship but will follow the rules of privately moderated forums such as this one. I just find it equally humorous that if I speak my mind and may "offend" another poster because it "MAY" be offensive, I am censored.
Yet, loose inuendo that CAN be offensive is permitted to fly.
I have children that range from 23 to age 9 and you would be amazed at what they learn not at home, but within the walls of their schools. Public and Private!

Pajohn,
Dans parenting experience has been decerned in another thread, and just to clear the matter, he has none.
As for the censorship here, I agree it is present, however, this IS a private forum, thus, they (the moderators and the owners) reserve the right to instill any rules they wish...even if that means deleting posts that contain language thay dont agree with.
You will also find "certain" users get more of a break in the rules, if they are of certain "status"...again deemed by the moderators and owners.
I dont let it bother me too much...I just dont post here as much as I have in the past because of this, but what bothers me more, is that this group (as will I) will stand up fighting to the end to protect one amendment, but basically turn its back on another.
But let me say again...it is their call to do so, and I will repect their wishes...at least here in their areana.

You seem to think I made a statement. I did not. That is the beauty of innuendo humor. Anybody able to connect the dots ALREADY KNEW about the things being discussed. This means that innuendo humor is free of blame because its own identity isn't enough to teach something new. It requires foreknowledge.PAJOHNOHIO wrote:Are you kidding me? Do you have kids? IF they already know, THEN they will get it.
IF they don't already know, THEN they will not get it.
Those are contingencies, not statements. I'll thank you kindly to not put words into my mouth.
There was a time in my childhood where the kids around me began snickering at the word cherry bomb. I was teased for not understanding why it was humorous. But because I don't have my own children, I couldn't POSSIBLY understand language concepts
