I was stopped on Sat. afternoon on Route 4, just south of Marion County. I was speeding 71/55, my speedometer had fallen asleep but I awakened her to tell her we were getting pulled over.
The deputy approached the car and told me he clocked me at 71 and asked for my license. My first response was, "Officer, my wife and I are both concealed carry permit holders." He asked where the gun was and I told him it was "in the back". (we drive a Pacifica, and it was being stored the old way, mag out, unloaded, etc).
He asked no further questions regarding the gun and didn't even blink or ask to see it. He thanked us for telling him and asked for my permit, but declined to view my wife's permit as the plates were in her name, so he already knew is my guess.
Unfortunately, I did get a citation for speeding; however, I am still giving Marion County Sheriff's office a letter grade of "A" in their dealing with me on the concealed carry issue.

I carry two guns and I on average drive slower than I have in a good 4 years or so. Not because of the guns 
It used to be that it wasn't uncommon that I was doing 80 on local expressways. The highway was like a high speed game of Tetris and I enjoyed it 
Glad to hear your encounter was good in terms of the CCW. However, it sounds as if neither of you were armed and therefore not required to inform. Not chastising you as a firearm was present, so it's just as well. Just making the clarification in case you or somebody else reading wasn't aware.

I appreciate your point and I volunteered that we had a firearm in the car, even if it was broken down because I did not want some overzealous cop with a skewed interpretation of the law, if not total disregard or ignorance, arresting me and ruining our trip. Luckily I happened upon a fine deputy who did not judge or feel threatenre by a law abiding, except for speeding, citizen. I will be very happy when the next step in the law occurs and we don't have to play shuffle the gun anymore and can keep it concealed.
