People defending themselves against a pair of alleged pit bull type dogs

Post by M-Quigley »

The pair had successfully attacked an 11 year old boy and a woman, sending the 11 year old to the hospital, then tried unsuccessfully to attack some people who were armed. The dogs got shot and that ended the attack spree.

The two dogs were described as pit bulls or pit-mixes in the report.

Springfield police told News Center 7 that they received reports of gunfire moments after the second attack.

They learned that three or more people fired shots at the two dogs when they ran at them

UPDATE: The initial reports of 2 dogs shot and killed may be incorrect. One dog was definitely killed but the status of the 2nd dog is unknown at this time, even whether or not it was hit by gunfire, whether the 2nd dog was involved in the attacks or was just hanging around when they occurred, or whether the shooters even attempted to shoot the 2nd dog.
