As I understand it, in Ohio non-violent felonies do not make you a prohibited person. Also, as I understand it an Ohio F5 does not make you a prohibited person under Federal law since the maximum sentence is not *more than* one year.

However, *any* felony conviction in Ohio keeps you from getting a concealed handgun license, which also means you cannot legally carry under Ohio's unlicensed carry law. You should get the record sealed - and not just so you could get a CHL, but in general it will benefit you in life.

I didn't say that - from what you've posted, I don't see anything that would prevent you from legally openly carrying. You just cannot carry concealed under Ohio's unlicensed carry law, nor can you get an Ohio CHL. This also means that you must unload and properly store your handgun when transporting in a motor vehicle. You also cannot legally carry within 1000' of a school, or in an establishment that serves alcohol.
