USCCA or other membership

I am a member of of USCCA at the moment, was wondering what people thought about what they have done recently to a couple of their members. I’m wondering if they are like the NRA. Anyone have preference on any of the other companies?

There are videos explaining on YouTube, but the one was a women’s situation, I’m not sure an all details but it sounds like in court they made it look like she entrapped her ex and shot him. But the last video I seen on The VSO gun channel, the new lawyer she had to get because USCCA dropped her, says since she was in her car and he was trying to jerk open her car door it was a stand your ground case. It sounds like USCCA dropped her to soon, like instead of try to help her they looked for a reason not to help her.

Just a helpful tip, when asking a question about something you heard on the internet, it's helpful to copy and paste a link for context, and so people don't have to try to search for it without the specifics keywords needed to easily find out stuff. In my case using what you said I got a lot of links that had nothing to do with your question at first, but when I eventually found out the woman's name, was able to narrow the search. Here's some more information on this particular case, the "other side of the story" or "the whole story" or "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say. The host is from the San Diego gun owners association, and while USCCA has placed ads on their website, the host claims the money involved doesn't make or break the organization, that he is a member of multiple organizations, including but not limited to USCCA. He doesn't take a position on which organization someone should choose or not. It sounds like USCCA had good reasons to do what they did, and the California attorney interviewed, while he was not the attorney in Louisiana who was personally involved, had a lot of important facts. He did mention some differences in Louisiana law versus the other 49 states that is important to gun related civil cases primarily. He also talked about "insurance backed" plans versus "member backed" plans, and how in CT. the state basically took one member backed plan to court, said we don't care what you call it, it's still insurance.

This is important because it is allegedly illegal for ANY group to cover a member if the organization believes the person committed an illegal act. This is very different than someone merely being accused of an illegal act, because if you're not charged with a self defense act or defensive gun use you wouldn't need the insurance anyway. In this particular case USCCA did initially pay an attorney and then when they more information, that is when they decided not to support her further. It's the same info that caused her to get convicted, and probably would have anyway regardless of whether USCCA continued to represent her or not.
