AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Two Akron Police officers are on paid administrative leave after an officer fatally shot a teenager who was armed with a loaded firearm Thursday night.

According to a release from Akron Police, two patrol officers were parked in their marked cruiser at East Avenue and Vernon Odom Boulevard working on a report around 11:01 p.m. when they heard gunshots nearby.

The officers exited the cruiser to investigate and encountered a 15-year-old with a loaded firearm, according to the release.

The Summit County Medical Examiner identified him as 15-year-old Jazmir Tucker of Maple Heights.

One of the officers, a 5-year veteran, discharged his weapon and struck the man, police said.
