I refuse to use the false term the apparently anti gun Columbus Dispatch uses in describing the weapon involved.

If a defendant says a shooting was in self-defense, Ohio's law requires prosecutors to prove the shooting was not in self-defense. Before the law changed in 2019, defendants were the ones responsible for proving to a jury that a shooting was done in self-defense.

Since the law change, Franklin County has seen an increase in defendants arguing self-defense, The Dispatch reported earlier this year.

So he's been in custody for almost a year. His life has been turned upside down, likely lost his job, who knows about family, etc., and how much money it has taken for him to walk free 11 months later.

Folks, this should be a wake-up call to those that believe that if the shoot is justified that you won't be arrested, tried, etc. This is the reality of SD incidents in left-leaning jurisdictions. Be prepared for it.

I don't live anywhere near Columbus and all I know about the politics there is what I hear on the radio stations in that area, so perhaps someone familiar with that area knows the answer. Could the type of weapon used have been a factor in why the prosecutor decided to pursue this case?
