.308???

Post by ParaC7 »

What's everyone using for long range shooting with 308? I'm assuming boat tailed, but what grain? Jacket? Etc?

What brand and specs and why?

Recommendations for ringing steel @ 1000+

Thanks!

Phil

I'm surprised that no one else has already answered your query. I sold my .308 many years ago, but IIRC the gold standard for long range accuracy has always been 168 grain jacketed hollow-point boat-tail projectiles. It shouldn't be too hard to find "Match" ammo in .308 and/or 7,62x51. I don't know any loads, but I seem to remember both Sierra "Match King" and Speer's equivalent bullets being popular along with IMR4895. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
