Vance Outdoors shows up in Schwarzenegger movie Aftermath

Post by Bruenor »

Just a random observation, watched Aftermath the other night, turns out the movie is set in Ohio. At one point during the movie the Air Traffic controller heads to the gun store to purchase a handgun. When he comes back out of the store with the gun case it has a huge VANCE OUTDOORS sticker on the side of the case. Was surprised to see an actual Ohio gun store mentioned by names, as movies usually just feature billy joe bobs generic gun store.

Apparently the site that tracks firearms used in movies missed the High Point. It only lists 3 guns, and I've never seen just 3 guns in an Arnold movie. It does however mentions Vance.

The following weapons were used in the film Aftermath:

1 Smith & Wesson M&P40 Pro
2 Smith & Wesson Model 642 Airweight
3 SIG-Sauer P228R
4 Vance's Law Enforcement

Speaking of accuracy, I had the opportunity to test out a .45 Hi point pistol. Here are the results at 15 ft. The circle is 5 inches wide.

and at 50 ft.

and 75 ft, all 2 handed unsupported. The poor results at 25 yards was probably me, because after shooting a lot of unsupported fire my disability sometimes acts up. I used to be able to do a lot better than that. Plus the trigger could be greatly improved if someone was really going to use it for better accuracy at longer distance, so maybe it isn't all just me. If I'd done the 25 yard test first I might've would've done much better. Reliability was excellent with 50 rounds of 230 grain ball and some HP 200 grain and 185 grain ammo thrown in. Recoil was extremely mild, but then the gun is so heavy for a pistol it's not surprising. I certainly wouldn't want to carry it, but I could see it's potential for other uses. Plus if you can't hit the BG with 11 rounds it would make a good bludgeon.
