Day of pick-up received an email from Kroger, some items were unavailable, some they had substitutes for. Pull into a pick-up parking slot behind the store, call the phone # on the sign & they bring out & load your stuff. Young lad that brought our stuff out refused a $10 tip, not allowed he said.
5 stars, will shop there again.

Note
Kroger has now made this service free and no minimum order. (at least in my area).

Will be trying Walmart's service today.
I'll be interested to see after all the Corona stuff passes how many changes to our usual routines become permanent changes. Is grocery pickup going to be the new fad? How about carryout for restaurants until a week ago never or rarely offered it?

We've been using the Kroger pickup at Mansfield Kroger's for about a year now. Been quite happy with it until this virus panic. Now they won't let you order these kind of items for pickup TP, paper towels, wipes, sanitizing supplies, & etc. The app says in store only or ship and I tried the ship but when i got to the checkout was told these items unavailable to ship. As of last Sunday still a $4.95 charge here. Can't see the reasoning for the "in store only" BS.

I also saw that the rate of Influenza-Like-Illness, in which people were found negative for flu but had flu symptoms, was much higher in January and February than it had been in several years.
My daughter (18 months old) was tested twice, three days apart. First test was negative, second test was positive. And the first test was about 2.5 days after being exposed to the kids at the sitter that also tested positive the day before my daughter tested negative. Funny thing is I was told by one doctor the flu test is about 50% accurate and another one that it is 100% accurate. Ain't nothing 100% accurate.
Flu, not corona, right? Hope she gets better quickly.

I should clarify that the ODH is not reporting negatives to the CDC. I will try to find the reference later.
Correct on Flu.

I've heard that ODH is not reporting it because the current testing facilities are not reporting it to ODH. ODH is also having issues getting the test results from some private labs.

Am I to understand they are not releasing or just as worse not asking for total #s of tests, and + vs - results? What is the relative number to compare to?

EXAMPLE: ''today we have 400+ cases out of 450 tested,'' is vastly more serious than, ''today we have...out of 5000 tested.''
Acquisitions thus far:

-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil
-Newspaper roll
--water balloon (*diversionary*)

They are not asking for negative test results. I think they can track how many tests are sent in to the CDC, but my understanding is private labs are not reporting negative results since it's not required. I believe I heard they have something like 704 positives out of an estimated 15,000 tests, so like a 5% positive test rate.

My biggest issue, and they announced it on the Wine with Dewine conference on Tuesday I believe was there are still many counties that ARE NOT testing because they do not have the testing supplies to do it. And Cleveland is obviously the "epicenter" of Ohio because they started testing there days before anywhere else in Ohio. So the way I see it, we don't really have an accurate representation of how big (or small) this pandemic is.

They (Ohio head honchos & honcho~ettes)are excluding negative results regardless of being directly told to INCLUDE them

https://theohiostar.com/2020/03/25/gove ... t-results/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In that article ^^ Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is reminded of what is required, report ALL test results. ODH knows because VP Mike Pence stated to do so, directly and plainly, in conference.

Just another source stating same claim...
https://www.cleveland.com/healthfit/202 ... sults.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Further, Ohio remains only ONE of TWO states not reporting the negative results. It's the first line in this article...
https://theohiostar.com/2020/03/21/ohio ... rus-tests/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

AND FINALLY.... the actual LAW that is alleged (well, at least for now) being violated...
https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-con ... /6201/text" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Summation. Why exclude the data or not act to obtain it, except that it will show that there are in fact very, very few (+) tests in relation to (-) test results? Medical errors in obtaining the data? Huuuge sums of funds being wasted? I cannot think of anything else, and it's a short list in any event.
The data does show that, with limited data (re: ratio of (+) tests to death rate of 1.5%) nationwide, and Ohio's 500+- cases and 8 deaths mirrors that 1.5 % number.

'Officers are scared out there': Coronavirus hits US police

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. — More than a fifth of Detroit's police force is quarantined; two officers have died from coronavirus and at least 39 have tested positive, including the chief of police.

For the 2,200-person department, that has meant officers working doubles and swapping between units to fill patrols. And everyone has their temperature checked before they start work.

An increasing number of police departments around the country are watching their ranks get sick as the number of coronavirus cases explodes across the U.S. The growing tally raises questions about how laws can and should be enforced during the pandemic, and about how departments will hold up as the virus spreads among those whose work puts them at increased risk of infection.

“I don’t think it’s too far to say that officers are scared out there,” said Sgt. Manny Ramirez, president of Fort Worth Police Officers Association.

Nearly 690 officers and civilian employees at police departments and sheriff’s offices around the country have tested positive for COVID-19, according to an Associated Press survey this week of over 40 law enforcement agencies, mostly in major cities. The number of those in isolation as they await test results is far higher in many places.

Anticipating shortages, police academies are accelerating coursework to provide reinforcements. Masks, gloves and huge volumes of hand sanitizer have been distributed. Roll call and staff meetings are happening outside, over the phone or online. Precinct offices, squad cars and equipment get deep cleaned in keeping with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.

Yet, many are worried it's not enough. This week, groups representing American police and fire chiefs, sheriffs, mayors and county leaders asked President Donald Trump in a letter to use the Korean War-era Defense Production Act to ensure they have enough protective gear.

Yesterday I was reading a magazine article on Anne Frank and how she hid from the authorities. Also how the Japanese Americans were rounded up right after Pearl Harbor, to be put in a non deadly concentration camp. Ironically this is in the news. :( Not implying a quarantine is anywhere near as bad as hauling someone off to a concentration camp. It's just the idea of the state having the authority taking action against a group of people already within the US who haven't even tested positive yet or have any symptoms. Also will this government authority get worse or more draconian?

Interesting response to all of the elected half-wits wasting time and resources trying to shut down gun stores.

Dewine very unhappy with the FDA over an Ohio based company sterilizing masks. I couldn't find any info though on why the FDA made the ruling that it made. Hopefully that had a good reason, and not just pulled a number out of the air. Either the method is safe and effective or it isn't. :?:

Meanwhile up north in Michigan, the governor is telling people they aren't allowed to ride motorcycles, and some odd comment about people moving out of state, don't know if it's a veiled threat or trying to spin it as a positive hoping to get people to stay. The moving answer was in reference to someone who wanted to move from MI to Utah.

quotes start at 15:25

"You can get outside, you can walk your dog but jumping on your motorcycle and traveling is not permitted under this order."
"For the person that is moving out of state, you know I know that Michigan has the most aggressive mitigation laws in place and so I hope that you think
about that when you think about where you're moving."

Bureaucrats figured out a long time ago that they might get in trouble for approving something that might not work, but they won't get in trouble for disapproving something that does work.

Do you know how this technology works? I have never heard of it.

Masks get wet because we breathe out humid air. The paper that they are made of can rip and be more flimsy the longer it is worn. I am not sure about sterilizing used masks. If the humidity of my breath makes the mask weaker/less able to filter viruses, it won't do me any good.

Maybe FDA backed out because it won't work as hoped.

(Right now I have a hard time believing pretty much anybody. This has got many of my co-workers seriously anxious. I just want some logic and sanity to return. But I don't expect that to happen any time soon, if it ever does.)

Trump has extended the "lock down" to April 30th now. We past 100,000 mark, sitting at 135,000 cases with over 2,000 deaths.

Things are getting a little crazy in Maine. :(

If I read the article correctly, the guy in question has already been there for 30 days. If he hasn't had any symptoms in a month I doubt he brought it from where he came from, even if he isn't a permanent resident.
