Public Safety ruins everything

Post by bignflnut »

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The recent round of snow is bringing attention to a city ordinance in Wisconsin. It’s illegal to throw snowballs in some parts of Wausau.

Snowballs are lumped in with missiles, rocks, arrows, none of which are you allowed to throw.

The ordinance decrees that you can’t throw snowballs anywhere on public property — not on sidewalks, city streets, or at school. If you do, you could be fined.

It’s really in the interest of public safety. A lot of it is just consideration and common sense. You don’t throw stuff at people, period,” Wausau Mayor Robert B. Mielke said.

Mielke says the ordinance was brought forward years ago after some issues with projectiles.

The police department can’t remember a time when someone was fined for throwing a snowball.
A full throated "Stick it in your Ear!" should be heard throughout the land.
#BanEverything

Oh, for sure. The city has a compelling public safety interest and therefore this law is legal, constitutional, moral, upstanding, just, fair, equitable, OSHA compliant...

Aircraft above DC now ruin being outdoors...
The U.S. Army has made permanent a classified aviation mission over Washington and disclosed that it’s aimed at responding to a terrorist attack or natural disaster. The mysterious operation -- which generated complaints from local residents for excess noise at night -- was mentioned in a Pentagon request to Congress in July asking for approval to shift fiscal 2019 funds to different purposes.

Democrat Representative Don Beyer of northern Virginia said earlier this year he heard from residents complaining about noise from late night helicopter flights. After Bloomberg disclosed the operation in July, Beyer met with Brigadier General Omar Jones, the commander of the Military District of Washington.

“They agreed to work together to seek ways to mitigate helicopter noise for Northern Virginia,” Beyer’s office said in a statement.

A trust of the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS) has unveiled a new policy under which it may withdraw treatment from patients deemed racist or sexist.

The North Bristol NHS Trust announced the launch of its “Red Card to Racism” campaign, which aims to protect staff from discrimination.

The policy establishes a “sports-style” disciplinary system in which patients receive a yellow card and eventually a red card for offenses.

Once a patient receives a red card, his or her treatment is withdrawn “as soon as is safe.”

“Any visitors causing disturbance or behaving in an unacceptable manner will get one verbal warning before being removed,” the North Bristol NHS Trust’s website reads.

The types of behavior classified as “abusive” include “racist or sexist language, gestures or behavior” and “malicious allegations.”
Could there be a more subjective measure of anything? Words are the battlefield.

Governor Murphy signed a bill on Tuesday that would restrict the sale of realistic toy guns and ammunition, in response to the fatal police shootings of Tamir Rice and Tyre King several years ago.

Rice, 12, and King, 13, were both fatally shot in two separate shootings by police who had mistaken their toy guns for real ones.

The bill has several stipulations for toy gun manufacturers, which say toy guns cannot be blue, black, silver, or aluminum, the barrel of the gun must have an orange stripe on it, and the barrel of the gun must be made with the same material as the rest of the toy gun.

THANK GOD He didn't do pre-ban, or registering of the ''old'' toy guns. Well, at least THIS time 8)

Is there anything illegal (yet :P ) with just spray painting the neu ''approved'' colors back to black?
Acquisitions thus far:

-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil
-Newspaper roll
--water balloon (*diversionary*)

Yeah, I'm that good

Based on a study that cites such potential dangers as the "sharp edges" on scissors and "toxic chemicals" in glue, state lawmakers in Virginia are on their way to approving a new licensing law to cover art therapists.

There is no word on whether kindergartners will continue to be allowed to use these tools that, in the hands of unlicensed adults, apparently constitute a risk to public safety.

The Virginia state Senate voted unanimously this week to approve the legislation, sending the bill to the state Assembly for further consideration. The bill would create a new license for art therapists, but it is largely silent on the requirements for obtaining such a license. Instead, the legislature intends to offload those details to a newly created board—a board that will be staffed primarily by practicing art therapists.

That's a common practice when it comes to licensing laws. It's also one of the primary reasons why occupational licensing limits job opportunities. Boards that are controlled by members of the industry they are supposed to regulate frequently become anti-competitive cartels more interested in limiting who can do certain types of work. The most egregious example is probably Louisiana's ridiculous florist licensing board.

SNIP

The real motivation behind licensing laws like this has nothing to do with the potential dangers of scissors and glue, of course. It's all about capturing a segment of the economy, and in that regard the Virginia proposal would be quite effective.

By the way, only two universities in the state offer master's degrees in art therapy. In the same way that mandatory licensing for makeup artists creates a captured market for cosmetology schools—if you want that license, you have to pay for classes at one of those schools, even if you already have the necessary skills—mandatory art therapy licensing would force would-be therapists to attend one of those two institutions.

The Virginia Board of Health Professions report also notes that mandatory licensing would allow art therapists to charge higher rates for their services. Funny how that happens when you start erecting artificial barriers to competition, right?
However, Virginia is the first state were art therapists have undergone the full sunrise review process and received a determination that a separate art therapy license is necessary to protect the public!

The AATA is optimistic that this recommendation will not only pave the way for art therapy licensure in Virginia but also have a positive impact in other states where art therapists are pursuing licensure, and at least 4 states where art therapists are currently engaged in sunrise review processes.

Thank you to all the art therapists in Virginia for the sustained effort required to achieve this accomplishment for the profession! We look forward to continuing to collaborate with VATA as we push for licensure in Virginia, now with the endorsement from the BHP.

With all the bread and circuses being shut down, the financial machine stopping on a dime and mandatory quarantines on the way, it should go without saying that "Public Safety", the rallying cry of tyrants throughout history, is baked into every action. None of the psychopathic politicians care about you. SCOTUS isn't coming to free you and the militia has long since been scuttled. We shall soon see how free and brave our land is, even though #ItCan'tHappenHere.

Please consider reading The American Ideal of 1776 in your "free" time. Stay safe out there my OFCC friends, maybe we'll have input in the rebuilding effort come July/August. May God, who is not mocked, Bless you and Keep you through these times.

I'm not taking a victory lap, not that anyone would give me any credit in the first place...but for anyone who wanted to cry about "Officer Safety" "Public Health" "Public Safety" as greater than the various Constitutions..., Looking at you DeWhine, Romney, Kasich, Roberts, FOP, etc...stick it in your ear! THIS is where the slippery slope you jumped on, ends.
A bill introduced on Thursday by Democratic lawmakers would classify racism as a nationwide public health crisis - requiring two wings within the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to address it, according to The Hill.

The bill - Anti-Racism in Public Health Act - was crafted by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and House Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA). It is co-sponsored by Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Ed Markey (D-MA), Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Tina Smith (D-MN).

"It is time we start treating structural racism like we would treat any other public health problem or disease: investing in research into its symptoms and causes and finding ways to mitigate its effects," said Warren, who masqueraded as a different race for decades - potentially depriving actual Native Americans positions at liberal institutions.
Ain't going to be long before White Privilege is a disease needing purged. The Othering is ramping up...and if you think #Merica is special so it can't happen here, read history.

Lowes is on board.

Tyranny in the name of the virtue Safety!
Safety UNITES us!
And no wonder, for even Evil disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if Evil's servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

WE must submit, to be safe. All violence must be condemned. Safety Unites Us! Safety Uber Alles!

During an interview with CNN, after he’d blamed Republicans for prolonging lockdowns and again claimed that the restrictions have nothing to do with liberties, Fauci was asked to comment on gun violence.

Dr. Anthony Fauci on whether he considers gun violence a public health emergency: “When you see people getting killed, I mean, in this last month, it’s just been horrifying what’s happened. How can you say that’s not a public health issue?” #CNNSOTU pic.twitter.com/9lEhV3aZqL

Remember that this is the unelected dude that shut everything in America down during Q2-4 2020.

We're so craven, as a society. "Public health/safety" is the lie every authoritarian throughout history told to get their way.

Appearing Monday on the Fox News Channel, former Las Vegas Police Lt. Randy Sutton warned that a “public safety crisis” is coming as police officers leave the force in record numbers across the United States.
Well, Randy, you earned this.
You wanted to have unfettered power and (un)qualified immunity. You and yours didn't root out the "bad apples" or hold yourselves to a just standard, and now, the worm has turned on you.

What would it profit a department to gain a perpetual budget increase and lose its integrity? You took the bait and now can't handle the scrutiny you were traded for. You wanted to disarm the population and now, you'll be disarmed. You made your bed, and soiled it. Now lay in it.

You had your chance to stand for Natural Rights, community militias and American decentralized control. You passed. As I've heard before "Got none comin."

Champlain Towers developer Nathan Reiber, who died in 2014, was once accused of paying off local officials to sidestep a construction moratorium in Surfside in 1979 because of problems with the sewer system, according to WaPo.

Reiber had "contributed" to the campaigns of local officials that granted him preferential treatment when it came to building Champlain Towers South in 1981.

SNIP

We noted two reports that were recently completed on Champlain South. The first was a field study conducted by an engineering firm in 2018 that identified structural damage to concrete slabs under the pool deck and cracking and crumbling in the parking garage. However, there was no evidence of imminent collapse. The second was a study from 2020 that outlined the tower was sinking in the 1990s by 2 millimeters a year.

The condo building was already conducting its 40-year recertification repair at the time of the collapse on early Thursday morning.

Investigators are trying to determine if Champlain South experienced structural issues or if other problems developed, such as if soil liquefaction played a factor in the collapse.
All the regs...all the rules...all the red tape...couldn't keep water potable in Flint... couldn't keep this condo building from deterioration...couldn't keep these people safe. Why? Because we need to be a moral and religious people, which we are not.

Public safety, the reason for all of this red tape (which increases the cost and quashes actual economic productivity), didn't serve these people well, but their rent still went up...
