Ohio senators to take first look at gun-control bills Tues.

Post by rickt »

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio senators are set to take their first look at three gun-reform bills Tuesday that would require background checks, impose stricter rules on selling guns to minors, and create a “red-flag” law allowing authorities to confiscate firearms from those deemed a threat.

But although Senate Bills 182, 183 and 184 each have two Republican co-sponsors, so far there’s little to no sign that any of the measures has enough support from conservatives to pass the GOP-dominated Ohio Senate, even in the wake of last month’s mass shooting in Dayton.

“Can I guarantee that the passage of any of the measures that you will hear about…will save a life? No,” Lehner told members of the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee. “But I do know this much – doing absolutely nothing is simply not an option.”

This is not the same video that was shown on 11 PM news. Wish it was because Lehner did not come off very well in her testimony to the committee. Would think that a state senator would be more comfortable speaking to other state senators.
