DeWine: Everything's on the table for gun policy changes

Post by rickt »

I'll be amazed if any pro-gun legislation gets passed in this session considering recent events.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—In the wake of Sunday morning’s mass shooting in Dayton that killed nine, Gov. Mike DeWine said “everything’s on the table” when it comes to discussing gun-policy changes – including expanded background checks.

“We’re open to discussion,” the governor told reporters at the Ohio State Fair on Sunday afternoon. “This is a debate that certainly should take place.”
This part offers some hope it won't be too bad.
However, DeWine said, any gun reforms need to be constitutional, must be able to pass the Republican-dominated legislature, and be able to make an actual difference.

I would imagine that they will get all the signatures they need after Dayton.

I volunteer as tribute in any debate about RKBA.

Are there any petitions against?

Even if they existed, they would not be worth the paper they are printed on. Petition has to be for something to be placed on a ballot.

So, with everything & anything on da' table, will there be a SUNSET CLAUSE i.e. 4-5 years, for WHEN the infringement(s)(s) don't work? Right?

Oh excuse me....he's our most illustrious (R) gov. , so this means, removing no-gun zones, etc? Right? Why ever did I 2nd guess this?

Hmm??

LET US TRY THIS... there are nutz and schitzo's in our society and yes, even in Ohio. When/if they act, we want armed staff to immediately respond. In like, an unreasonable time. Under one minute oops oh that's what happened

We want this to counteract that, and when the this happens, it's not good enough . Uh huh, right. Roger, roger. Vector Victor.
Acquisitions thus far:

-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil
-Newspaper roll
--water balloon (*diversionary*)

Yeah, I'm that good

I guess we will have to see if he goes back to his anti-gun days as a US Senator.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOIO) - In wake of the Dayton mass shooting that killed 9 and injured 27 on Sunday, Governor Mike DeWine plans to address topics including gun violence and mental health.

DeWine plans to speak at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday, August 6 at 9 a.m. to speak on these topics.

DeWine capitulating.
1. "Safety Protection Orders" mental health , alcohol or drug addiction AND access to guns.
Cops need tools to deal with danger to themselves and/or others AND access to guns.
Asking Legislature to pass ERPOs.
"Balanced" against due process and RKBA....ha!
Been working on it for months.
Golly, he hopes that people use it!
Rocket Docket, get them served...judge has 3 days to do it...then flip over into permanent hearing in 14 days.
Jail or mental facility while you wait!

Apparently "the 2nd Amendment" community is endorsing this and are present at this announcement of nearly completed legislation.

On Danger

2. State mental hospitals are coming back!

Couching it in suicide prevention.

Says Dayton shooter exhibited anti-social behavior in school. (assume public school) #Socialization

Wraparound services funding for children! ("Tailor programs to help kids earlier in life"... because schools are THE choke-point to control the masses.)

4. Behavioral health pros in schools
No matter where a child lives in Ohio...

7. Chronic gun violence in cities.
Target the violent criminal who has no right to have a gun...increase penalties.

8. Violent felon penalties
Prohibited Possessor needs to be stronger. First offense 2-8 years (2nd Degree)

9. Possession of gun while committing a felony.
Up it 1-3 years

10. Brandishing while committing a felony.
Mandatory 3-5 years

11. Straw Purchasing
Increase penalties.

Goodness he delivers this with vigor for such a tiny man.

12. The straw purchase beneficiary
If they know it was a fraudulent purchase.
Same 2-8 years for 11.

13. Illegal provision to minors.
Not fathers and sons.
As though this can be known and/or prosecuted
Take it from a 5th felony to a 3rd degree

14. School tip line.
"See Something, Hear Something, Say Something....Call Somebody"
Rat out anyone for anything. Bring the power of the State down on their lives because you don't like them...we'll sort it out.

15. While not monitoring social media (*cough*) we have the technology to watch for words and head this off
State isn't the NSA, but with Trump's commitment to give Ohio anything it needs...and the recent commitment to be pro-active instead of reactive.

16. Harden religious houses.
State funds to make more secure...here's our cookie, take it and we own you.

17.Sandy Hook Promise Ohio Schools
Intervention program statewide.

Obligation to look out for one another...help by calling the State and destroying someone's Liberty "legally".

Then he admits that these things are not really going to stop violence, but it will help...
Admits kids having mental health issues....and who created those? Who is destroying families and churches by promising easy educational outcomes?

Among Ohio’s Republican candidates for governor, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor portrays herself as more conservative than Attorney General Mike DeWine when it comes to Second Amendment issues.

"I do not trust Mike DeWine on guns," Taylor said during a Jan. 29 speech at the Washington Heights Baptist Church. "He flip-flopped on the gun issue and has earned an F from the NRA. I have an A with the NRA."

Taylor and DeWine are competing in the May 8 Republican primary for governor with hopes to replace term-limited Gov. John Kasich.

There is no disputing that DeWine once received an F grade from the NRA, which was based on his stances while in the U.S. Senate more than a decade ago. In 2002, the Columbus Dispatch described DeWine as a "Republican who's not afraid to stand up to the National Rifle Association."

But when DeWine ran for Ohio attorney general in 2010, his positions on gun laws changed. Taylor omits that DeWine’s grades from pro-gun groups have risen as he has taken stances more in line with the NRA.

Not sure what your point was in posting this. I'm sure most, if not all, of us voted for Taylor in the primaries, and most, if not all, of us are well aware of DeWine's issues and past history regarding our rights.
