I have an Ohio Concealed Handgun Permit. I know that Illinois is one state that does not have reciprocity with Ohio. However, I was reviewing Illinois law and came across this at 430 ILCS 66/40(e):
(e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident:
(1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a
firearm under federal law;
(2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under
the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and
(3) is not in possession of a license under this Act.
If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 65 of this Act.
I believe that this means that I am allowed to carry a concealed handgun in my car while driving through Illinois. However, I want to ask you guys to make sure that I am not breaking any laws before I carry a loaded handgun in my car when I drive through Illinois next week. Thanks!

Legally you are good to go, just do not get out of the vehicle with your firearm. In Illinois it is legal i to have the loaded pistol in your vehicle, as long as you have a license from another state, but you are not allowed to carry it outside of your vehicle.

Its also my understanding that WHERE YOU ARE in IL determines the weight of law. Mid to south IL will give an OH gun carrier better results than south Chicago as is my understanding....
Unarmed people are vulnerable people, and criminal predators prey upon them.
