Regarding the Netgear switches: I have been using them for about 2 years now, some even longer. They are all in great condition. They are geared for either advanced projects or a small-medium business. They are easy to configure via the web interface, and the fully managed switches have a good command line interface, not too foreign to anyone familiar with Cisco IOS or Brocade gear. I've been running fiber-optic and direct-attach-cable at 10 gigabit on these devices with no issues.
