Rock Island GI 1911
Fell in love with the rugged simplicity, but how the hell do you guys hide this monster?

Re: Rock Island GI 1911
Though I no longer do, i carried a full-sized 1911 for quite some. And I know others that do (or have), as well. It's really all about how you dress, wearing a high-quality (gun) belt, and using a quality holster. Personally, I found the slim nature of the 1911 easier to hide than many other "modern" semi-autos.

Or try Beltman for a dress belt option. I've been wearing one of their dress belts almost daily for over 5 years.

Re: Rock Island GI 1911
I won one a couple years ago. Ordinary GM clone but with rails. I don't carry it - it requires a special holster to deal with the rails, and I'm too cheap. (I have a GM clone if I get the urge to carry a full size 1911.)
Rock solid and heavy, but it took me a couple hours on the bench to make it shootable . After the distributor's smith spent some time on it. Pretty easy to do, though. The ambi safety on mine had edges (on both levers!) sharp enough to shave with, but that was an easy one, too.
IMHO, they're a lot of solid gun for the price, but do plan on a bit of work with it. Heck of a nice range gun if nobody complains about the extra weight.

I have the nylon 5.11 Tactical belt. It’s great. Has stiffners built in heck it can stand up on its own. The buckle is kind of like a motorcycle helmet buckle in design so no trying to find which hole works best. I have two. About $35 on Amazon. Measure the width since I bought the wider one first and it wouldn’t fit some of my belt loops.

I have great belts. A couple from Cabelas, I cannot recall the product name. Bullbelt? It's very thick.
A good holster eludes me. Does anyone carry INSIDE the waist band?

I carry full size Sig P226 appendix, inside waist band. Same with my compact P239 - and once I get the scratch for the holster, same with a Beretta 92.
Lots of people carry 2:30-5:00 inside the waistband with varying amounts of cant (further you go on the 'clock' the more cant you need). Carrying outside the waistband is fine, but puts more limitations on wardrobe and physical movements.

Sure. My Glock 27 fits fine inside. A good holster recommendation is highly welcome
