I fumbled my (open) pocket knife last night at the Comfort Inn in Seaman, Oh. I was barefoot at the time.

No attempt to catch it, and I jumped away so I did not stab myself.

But I instantly thought of this tread.

Berwick police say 28-year-old Kenneth Morris reached through the car's rear driver's side door to comfort his son when the .357-caliber gun fell from Morris' shoulder holster. When Morris tried to grab the falling weapon, he accidentally pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the stomach.

Police say surveillance video captured the shooting, which happened Tuesday afternoon in a driveway of a home.

Having seen the dance done by a "well endowed" lady shooter with an open blouse when a piece of hot brass flies awry, I suspect that there is a opportunity for sales of a range accessory.



Maybe not knit, and possibly with a velcro closure in back much like a babies bib. Possibly with a pocket to catch the errant brass.

Threatened to get this for a few lady friends!

How does one train himself NOT to grab something he dropped?

Drop a hot soldering pencil a few times off your workbench on a rolling ship at sea and you learn reasonably quickly.

Did that exactly once although at home. Moving what I was working on and it got caught in the soldering iron's cord. Nice burns which healed in a week or two. Had it happen one other time and didn't even try and reach for it to stop it from falling.
