Fun 'n Gun 2017 - Registration is Active
All,
The registration for 2017 Fun 'n Gun is now active!
Saturday, May 13th, 2017 - Rochester Rod & Gun Club
2017 Fun 'n Gun Registration
Ohioans For Concealed Carry invites our members and supporters to join us as we kick off spring with a bang at one of the country's premier training facilities for our 13th Annual Fun 'n Gun fundraiser! (All proceeds raised enable OFCC to continue the fight to protect and expand your gun rights.)
Instructors and Range Safety Officers from Rochester Rod & Gun Club and OFCC will take you through shooting stages that simulate conditions you might encounter in real life concealed carry or home self-defense situations. You don’t get the opportunity to practice this at a typical indoor range. Geared for both beginning and advanced shooters. It promises to be a day of fun shooting for all. Lunch is included.
This event is held regardless of the weather. Like real defense situations, you may have to shoot in the rain or cold. Be sure to dress appropriately and prepare for variable conditions. Bring a handgun (and spare if possible), strong side holster, and 150 to 200 (or more) rounds of ammunition. Shoulder, cross-draw, ankle and off body holsters may not be used.
Space is limited and we tend to have a waiting list so we strongly urge you and your friends to purchase your tickets as soon as possible. OFCC will do it's best to group friends together in the same shooting squads (maximum squad is usually 10 people).

We have spots available.
I'm curious what everyone is planning on shooting.

Not exactly sure how many spots are left the moment. The registration on our website will automatically lock up when we're full.
I recently picked up a 45 Shield that I'm looking forward to shooting.

Re: Fun 'n Gun 2017 - Registration is Active
Ahhhh, always torn on this question! The best move is my EDC, Walther PPQm2, 9mm. Get more "life like" practice where it's most needed, with the primary carry gun. But the other FUN options are hard to ignore! Maybe this is the year I run a stage or two with my Coonan. Or an older favorite, my S&W 745. Maybe a recent addition -- a "car gun" S&W 469.
Always always always have my Glock 29 in tow for backup in the unlikely event of a gun failure. It's a 10mm but I get fantastic performance from a KKM .40 S&W conversion barrel.

I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

A friend who seems to buy every M&P variant as they come out let me try his .45 Shield. Couple quick drills on the shot timer convinced me to save my money for something else. Double taps got slower AND farther apart compared to the 9mm Shield I had along.Jake wrote: I recently picked up a 45 Shield that I'm looking forward to shooting.
Having last week joined the ranks of the retired, a trip to F&G North may be in order. We'll see.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Congrats on the retirement Brian.
I've got plenty of nine millimeter I love and trust. The 45 Shield was more of a whim than anything else. Price is hard to beat also. Out the door just a hair over $400.

Ditto on the retirement.
I love my Shield 45 - made it my EDC the past few months. I found it to be quite accurate for me. I didn't time my splits, but it felt good to me.

Re: Fun 'n Gun 2017 - Registration is Active
Ran some 5x7x5 drills last evening.
Shield was snappier than I expected but clearly manageable.
I'm sure I'll bring it as well as a Glock 9mm for a backup.
Wasn't sure if we would have a Force on Force stage this year. Looking more and more like we will.
I'll be ready for Steve.

Re: Fun 'n Gun 2017 - Registration is Active
I just registered myself and a buddy from work. Last year was my first time doing anything like this and I had a blast. Talked a buddy from work into coming with me this year. It will be his first time doing anything like it as well.
I will likely use my Walthers PPQM2 9mm again (really love this one) but might use my Springfield XDS-9mm on a few stages. Will have my Springfield XDMod2 9mm as a backup for any malfunctions.
Looking forward to the event.
