The biggest "secret" in the world of CZs happened to be about what was probably the best made ProMag magazine ever. ProMag made a 10-round .40S&W magazine for the compact CZ ... a gun that CZ had not released yet. Without any modification, this same magazine could be used in the 9mm P-01 (as a 14 rounder) with excellent results. I still have 10 of these ProMags and with routine spring replacement, they still function in my P-01, my CZ 75 Compact .40 and my CZ 40P. 9mm or .40S&W, it just doesn't matter.

I learned from the mistake of the AWB, bought a Saiga AK which could only hold 10 rounds. I learned how to cut the legs on the follower and turn it into a 15 round magazine as well as putting a round nose screw on an AK 30 rd. magazine to make it work in a Saiga. I also then bought a handful of AK's.

The main things I remember were all the ugly thumbhole stocks and the junk high cap mags. Remember USA brand mags? They were about the only ones you could get for a decent price but most were not reliable. Many (most) quality mags were $85 or more. I remember so many stories of people using these mags and blaming the gun when these failed. At the time, most of the 10 round AR mags didn't work either. I still have a few Bushmaster 10 rounders that didn't feed.

I also remember all the loud muzzle brakes back then.

Now if I buy a firearm that takes high cap mags, I make sure that I can get a supply of mags before I purchase the firearm. Now is the time to stock up while prices are decent and most can be found to purchase.

You nailed it!
I have at least 6 "normal" capacity :) mags (13 round) for each pistol, and over 50 AR-15 mags!

I will NEVER be caught by surprise, by a "ban" again! 8)
