What's the procedure for replacing a stolen CHL?

Post by williaty »

Today, my wife's wallet was stolen. She had a bit of a tussle on her bike this afternoon and the wallet came out of her pocket. By the time she got all her other things gathered up and realized the wallet had fallen somewhere, someone had picked it up and made off with it. This was on OSU's campus near the Med Center. We've already filed a police report and canceled the credit cards that were in it. Thankfully she had nearly no cash in it at that time of day. We can print out new insurance cards, so that's easy to take care of. Fixing the driver's license issue is as simple as going in tomorrow morning to get it replaced but none of the officers we talked to tonight could tell us what to do about the CHL.

1) What is the process for replacing a stolen CHL?
2) We live in Licking County now but our CHLs were issued in Delaware County. Of all the surrounding counties we could use, which one is most likely to be speedy to deal with?

Thanks guys.

Pretty sure that Delaware will be the only place you can get a replacement card as they issued it. Call them to report it stolen and inquire about a replacement. You may not get an answer until Monday.
Ignorant or Stupid, I'm not sure which is worse. If someone were stupid, at least they'd have an excuse for all the dumb things they say.

Pass the Peace Pipe I need another hit

IANAL and neither are most people on this board, its just shows more with some than others.

You must get a replacement from the same county that issued your license. Just call them like the other poster said and tell them it was taken and you need to get it replaced.
