Pistol recommendations for GSSF

I recently joined GSSF to shoot a few matches, I planned on shooting in the sub-compact division with my g30. But I would like to buy a full size pistol to shoot in GSSF and then maybe move over to uspsa or idpa. ( and hopefully a few bass shoots)

Now I am not a fan of .40, I am pretty comfortable shooting 45 and real comfortable shooting 9mm.

Problem with 9mm is from what I understand there are power factors in idpa and uspsa but not in GSSF

Problem with 45 is even with a full size g21 gen 4 you will still get a little more muzzle flip compared to a full size 17

Any input would be appreciated. Or if there is something else I missed don't hesitate to let me know.

Only input I have is that Atwells Police and Fire in Painesville, was expecting some CPD trade-ins at a great price. not sure if they came in yet, but the pricing Chuck mentioned for them was VERY attractive. I'm not good with Glock models but if I recall correctly they were 21's and 22's, that may have Cleveland Police Department etched on the slide. Who knows, you may end up with 2 instead of one if they are in and the pricing is right.

Btw IPSC and IDPA seem to have 9mm as their semiautomatic power floor minimum. Local events rarely chronograph, so why deal with the increased recoil from .40 caliber?

IPSC has stages with high round counts, so again a double stack 9mm makes the most sense.

USPSA and IDPA both have divisions (Production and Stock Service Pistol respectively) that only allow ten rounds in each mag and 9mm as the floor with no advantage to bigger calibers. Glock 17 and 34 work fine for these. The 17 can be used in more GSSF divisions than the 34. A G30 can be used for all GSSF divisions except Pocket.

I used a police trade in G30 last year in Subcompact, Heavy Metal, and Major Sub GSSF.

Now looking at the GSSF shoots. You can not shoot the 34 in the stock division only the unlimited division.

Most likely I'm looking between the 21 & 17.

I really only own 45s right now which is why I was leaning twards the 21. But 9 mm is cheaper to shoot so I could practice more with it.

for USPSA If you shoot all rounds in the A zone it's the same scoring between major and minor power factors.
any class other than production, If you put rounds in the B, C, or D zone then the major power factor shooters get more points for those shots.
I shoot 9mm and just try for all Alphas, If I'm hitting anything else then i am going too fast.

In GSSF yes as long as your shooting in the unlimited division.

the G41 is ok for shooting production in USPSA as well. Or you could get some extended mags and shoot it in Limited if you so desired.
