I wish I was that talented. No. But we're nearing completion. Once I get a few more pictures taken (hopefully today) reassembly will commence. Obviously the final post(s) in this thread will follow a successful range outing.

Some pictures of the chamber (tough to get decent pictures there with the gear I've got) and the trigger face:





Very soon the reassembly process will begin. I think I've taken polishing the feed ramp and the chamber about as far as I can. The trigger face is as smooth as I need it to be. I may try to buff the trigger undercut a smidgen more, but I think I'm pretty much done with the frame, too.

So, it's done. For now. First decent day we head to the range to make sure the silly little thing actually still works.




And, just to prove David Bowie's business model is in absolutely no danger from me (not that anyone thought it might be):


I'll let you try to guess which is which.


There are some things I'd do differently.
1. Do the mag cutouts first.
2. Document the disassembly process a little better - I had a couple "false starts" putting it back together.
3. NOT try to save the K-T logo.
4. Buy or fabricate a hook tool for the hammer spring butt'y removal/installation. (You can see where I kind of buggered up the base plate on it in the above pictures)

I'm sure I'll think of other things, but these are what come immediately to mind.

I never did post final range results...
Well, it's still a P3AT with the most rudimentary of sights. It's still a "Get off me!" gun. But it works well, and is much more pleasant to shoot than with that very aggressive diamond patterning from the factory. I would do the stippling ever so differently next time around, but I really wouldn't change much.

I've always been afraid of making such permanent alterations on my firearms. Maybe because years ago I asked my friendly local gunsmith if he thought I could learn to do hand checkering. He gave me an appropriate file and a couple pieces of steel to practice on. Working slow and careful as possible I did almost passable work on the flat piece. The curved one, pretty much epic fail. Ever since, anytime enhanced grippiness was my goal, I used some 3M Safety Tread tape and called it a day.

I think you done good on that Kel Tec, Navy Chief. Hopefully my earlier post made that clear.

Nice thing on a Kel-Tec 380, that grip module doesn't have the serial #....so price of failure is low.
