Was looking for something different than the usual Raven Phantom for a SIG P220 and tried Alien Gear's hybrid holsters. After getting it and talking with them, I'll be sending it back. The shell does not completely cover the trigger guard, only the trigger. Even then only if the gun has been decocked. While you should never be holstering something like a P220/P226/P229/etc. without decocking it, that doesn't mean the holster should leave the trigger exposed. Even with it decocked, it wouldn't have been much work to get something inside to pull the trigger. Hated to send it back since it was very comfortable. It sounded like some of their holsters do completely cover the trigger guard. If you're going to order one and want a holster where the trigger guard is completely covered, check with them first. Guess I'll be going with a BladeTech IWB for a higher level of concealment and one of their OWBs for competition until the Raven Phantom arrives (it's not one of their quick ship holsters).
I've noticed some Galco holsters are the same with not completely covering the trigger guard. Has anyone else noticed this as a trend in holsters? Personally, if the trigger guard isn't completely covered, I would not consider it as safe as it should be and wouldn't use it.

I use one for my shield. While it doesn't cover the entire trigger guard it covers more than enough to stop anything from getting to the trigger.

Another one to look at if you want a hybrid is Hidden Hybrid Holsters (http://www.hiddenhybridholsters.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) made right here in the great state of Ohio from locally sourced materials. If you want to stop in and see his work he just opened a retail shop this April in Canton South along with a gun and accessories shop called Stark Arms.
I consider his holsters to be an upgrade from the Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe I used to use and is far superior to anything I've seen from Aliengear. Double layer backing, heavy gauge Kydex that covers the entire trigger guard, flared mouth for easier re-holstering, adjustable retention, etc.
If you are still looking and make it out to the Medina show on Saturday I can show you the one I've been wearing for the past few months.

Re: Alien Gear Holsters
Have a BladeTech OWB for competition and IWB for carry until the Raven Phantom (my favorite go to holster) arrives next month.

Had good luck with the Alien Gear for my SR9c for carry
They used to have a program you could trade the old holster for a new rig to fit your new gun

They still have the program to exchange shells for a different gun. But none of the ones for a P220 completely covered the trigger guard.Glock 'n load wrote:Had good luck with the Alien Gear for my SR9c for carry
