Like asking what is a good pair of jeans or shoes?

Budget, price range
where are you planning to wear it
IWB or OWB, shoulder, pocket, ankle, car, bedside, carry case, purse, belt pouch
do you need a belt, what kind
what kind of draw: cross, high, low, canted
what material do you want to use
is this practical/tactical, competition, or conceal
security measures
price range
custom bling,
wait times
'CAN' does not equal "SHOULD'.

Raven, comp-tec, galco and crossbreed are all good.

Plus their are local options. Zlongie is one.

Alien gear makes good IWB holsters.
Fobus makes good OWB hard plastic holsters with decent retention.

Been very happy with the holsters from Raven (also an Ohio company which I like supporting). Have them for my Glock 23/32/19, 1911 (full size and commander), SIG P226, 3.8 XDm, etc. Usually the first place I look when I get a new gun. I use their holster for both daily carry as well as competition (mainly IDPA but also some steel challenge and been trying out USPSA this year)

I've got a raven vanguard 2, a remora, DeSantis nemesis, one by a company called Osage Tactical out of KS, a couple from. uncle Mikes. All have their advantages. You will buy more than one in the long run. I didn't think I would, but looked what happened.

You're going to get a hundred different answers. Holsters are very personal and everyone has preferences.

I prefer an OWB Leather holster. My prefered brand is Desantis.

I throw my lot in with Dan. I use his holsters and belt. Solid stuff. I've been wearing the same holster for almost 5 years now.

What are your criteria?
  • How do you want to carry? OWB, IWB? Open carry?
  • Price?
  • Material? Leather, kydex?
You'll get a better answer with better information.

If you decide to go raven, get the pancake wings over the standard and save yourself $15 or so.

My favorite holster is from Dan, Zlogonje Gunleathers. Like it so much I ordered a spare...
