Dump Pouch Advice Needed
Shooting in 2 feet of snow has taught me the merits of the dump pouch. I want to use it on a typical gun belt like the Wilderness Instructor belt or similar, position around back, and it doesn't need to be anything super-special but of solid quality.
Who is using what? Advice appreciated.

Re: Dump Pouch Advice Needed
I have an old Eagle Industries that's pretty awesome if you don't need to sit (think big and bulky). I thought they were discontinued, but SKDTac still carries them:
http://www.skdtac.com/Eagle-SAS-Dump-Ma ... ag.238.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Comes with all sorts of attachments, and you can even rig it up as a hip/thigh rig if it suits your purpose better.
It's big, though. I think it's as big as the Marz Tactical one. On a belt, it'd take up a lot of real-estate, but since you're using it in a rather relaxed atmosphere (i.e. not for classes, where you might have other stuff on your belt), I don't know that this would necessarily matter. If real-estate is not a concern, the CSM is also one that a lot of people like.
I also like how the Eagle keeps itself open without "flopping" via the VELCRO, but if you prefer a drawstring/elastic closure, something like the Marz might be better instead.
The EGL Loppy is smaller, but it's really very compact when rolled up and sits out of the way until you need it with that one pull. I really like it
I've never used the EMDOM, HSGI, or the First Spear SSE, and would like to try them out. If you get those, we can swap gear.
I still own that old Eagle and the Loppy.

I might use it in a class, figuring I own it and if I find it useful.

^ I think really, then, if you want it out of the way when you're not using it becomes the bigger concern.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago and it works fine for limited range/practice use.

Re: Dump Pouch Advice Needed
I second the recommendation for the Condor folding dump pouch. I've been using one for a few years on my shooting vest, mostly for holding loose shotshells. It's really nice to be able to roll it up out of the way when you aren't using it.
I don't have a maxpedition dump pouch, but I have a few of their other pouches and I wouldn't hesitate to buy theirs if I needed a replacement.

Re: Dump Pouch Advice Needed
Quick Update (because I hate when we give advice but never learn the final outcome): I bought the Maxpedition Small and Regular Rolly Polly Dump Pouch. These were basically the first ones I ran across, and it is a good brand. The small is too small...really, they say it fits a quart bottle. Too hard to drop an AR mag into without having to really search. The regular size seems just about right. When you look at it alone, it seems big. But behind your waist on your belt, it is a good size to drop mags into or even an empty handgun.

What's the purpose of this "dump pouch"?
'CAN' does not equal "SHOULD'.

I started this thread in the deeply snowy months...dropping a magazine in the snow meant digging around for awhile.

Got this in my spam mail from Blue Force, the same folks who make the Vickers Sling, wire loop and Fast-Mags, etc:
