World's first 2-D printed firearm...yes, 2-D!

This is where you can talk about all equipment issues; firearms, ammunition, magazines, care & repair, holsters, gun cases, etc.

This is a paper laminate ar15 lower receiver.

It's been simplified and redesigned slight ly

But you cut it out, glue it togeather, and it's an actual firearm.

Takes a ton of time, and it will need some creativity and innovation to evolve. But the first one is printed.

Hmm. They're just going to epoxy the buffer tube in place.

I would choose to use a metal insert like the Omni Hybrid lowers: http://www.americantactical.us/page/hybrid.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've thought about doing something like this after watching what this kid on Youtube can do with paper, glue and some springs from ink pens and spiral bound notebooks. 8)

This just takes it one step further in blurring the lines between the 1st and 2nd Amendments in even more ways. I wonder if the Secretary of State will try banning this book on the internet in the same way they did going after Defense distributed under ITAR?

The SAF is already on the case and the battle has begun in this arena:

“If code is speech, the constitutional contradictions are evident…So what if this code is a gun?” asks Cody Wilson, Defense Distributed’s founder, a radical libertarian who dropped out of the University of Texas law school to run the firearms access group. “Nothing can possibly stand in the way of this being disseminated to the people, and yet they insist on maintaining the power to do so.”

I think the pops need to realize that rebellion is just bred into the hearts of most Americans... And the more they tell folks what they can't do, folks will find ways to defy such unconstitutional laws and jackbooted thug ways.
"Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home
Let me die in a pile of empty brass."
Amen

Technically speaking, aren't most 3-D printers essentially 2-D printers that build up in layers?

Some interesting ideas about alternate materials in that thread, e.g., use of Kydex instead of paper, use of resin glue instead of white glue. All sorts of interesting concepts. I would love to be able to head to Kinkos and run off a dozen guns on the high speed copiers. :)
